The Craigieburn North precinct plan.

What the approved Victorian Planning Authority plan sets out for Craigieburn North: an integrated commercial and industrial business park, a creek corridor kept for conservation, and the roads that link it to the Hume Freeway. It is an employment precinct, so it does not plan homes or schools.

261.5 ha of industrial land

Conventional industrial land suited to local industry and business needs, the largest share of the precinct.

83.25 ha of commercial land

Including a higher amenity commercial area that responds to the Merri and Kalkallo Creeks and the residential area nearby.

7,878 estimated jobs

The plan's jobs table estimate at full development: about 5,230 industrial, 2,498 commercial, 150 restricted retail and 6 convenience centre jobs.

Restricted retail and a convenience centre

About 2.5 ha of restricted retail and a small local convenience centre of about 0.15 ha.

Merri Creek conservation

Growling Grass Frog habitat links protected and enhanced, with native planting, linear trails and passive park areas along the creek.

Road links and intersections

Stronger links to the Hume Freeway and the arterial road network, with land set aside for three road projects and seven intersection projects.

For home buyers

Jobs close to the new estates.

The business park is not planned for housing, but new homes are being built close to it. Estates in Donnybrook, Kalkallo, Mickleham and Wollert sit within about 7 km of the precinct centre, so the planned jobs land is a short drive for buyers there.
